During Owen Coyle's first full season in charge of the Claret's,
he managed to do the impossible, and Burnley Dared To
Dream that their young Glaswegian manager could propel
them to the promised land of the Premier League.

After leading the Clarets to the Semi Final of the Coca Cola Cup,
and nearly reaching the new Wembley, Owen Coyle set about taking
Burnley to Wembley via the Play Offs. A season not to be forgotten,
as Burnley played some wonderful passing football, which many
Clarets had forgotten was possible during 33 years in the
wilderness.

But on that beautiful Monday afternoon in late May 2009, 37,000
Burnley fans arrived at Wembley to see the new national stadium for
the first time with Claret eyes.

The game, which was decided by a wonderful curling effort from
outside the box by Wade Elliott was a tense but exciting affair, the
tough direct style of the Blades and the quick passing and
movement of the Clarets, made for an entertaining game, with plenty
of incident.

Sheffield United's had two penalty shouts turned down by Mike
Dean, and were reduced to 10 men after Ward was set off after 80
minutes, but the best chances fell to Burnley, as they hit United on
the break every chance they got.

At the final whistle, as Steve Caldwell lifted the Play Off Trophy
above his head, only one man's nae was on every Burnley fan's
lips.......... Owen Coyle.
